A large part of the world still grapples with acute food insecurity as the rise in hunger shows no sign of diminishing. From 2019 to 2020, the number of undernourished people grew by as many as 161 million, a crisis driven largely by conflict, climate change, and the COVID-19 pandemic. To mitigate the threats posed by the undernourishment to vulnerable populations, a holistic and consolidated approach to health, nutrition and food security is needed to ensure the right to adequate and nutritious food for all to end hunger, food insecurity & malnutrition and all that it brings with it.
Through the “No Hungry Stomach” initiative, KDA has brought food assistance to more than 12 million people in 80 countries. When a severe cyclone left millions in distress in Pondicherry and flood-ravaged the streets of Thane, KDA’s Flood relief task force rushed to their aid from near and far to provide free food, shelter, and support.
Following the ongoing pandemic, KDA has doubled its efforts to reach more and more people in affected areas, by facilitating novel food distribution mechanisms such as food packets so that nobody seeking food shall be refused food to uphold the “No Hungry Stomach”. No pandemic or disaster has ever been an obstacle in achieving the ‘No Hungry Stomach’ Project.
